John McDonald

Non-Executive Chairman

John has 35 years’ experience in financial markets and is a Senior Partnership Advisor at Tellsons Investors LLP and is a founding director of Alternative Research Ltd., an investment consultancy launched in 2010. He was most recently a co-founder of London Stock Exchange-listed BACIT Ltd (Battle Against Cancer Investment Trust), which merged with the Life Sciences investment firm, Syncona Partners, in late 2016. He previously worked with Patrick Teroerde and Edward Colins for six years at Hanson Asset Management as a non-Executive Director from its inception in 2010. Prior to this John was Head of Sales and Marketing at Impax Asset Management plc, Head of Alternative Investments Sales at New Star Asset Management plc, Investment Director at Eden Capital and co-founder of Fortune Asset Management. John began his career in European equity research at Morgan Grenfell & Co. in London, followed by HSBC James Capel and UBS Warburg in New York and the Europe Company Ltd in London. He is a graduate of EBS European Business School, studying in London, Paris and Frankfurt.

Patrick Teroerde

 Managing Director

Prior to founding Arlington Capital, Patrick co-founded Hanson Asset Management. He has over 20 years of professional investment and financial advisory experience, and as an experienced investor with expertise across the asset classes, the capital structure and the stages of the company lifecycle.  Previously, he was CEO and Investment Director of Adurion Capital, where he invested in in distressed and turnaround situations. Patrick served at Strategic Value Partners, a distressed hedge fund, at Rhône Group, a leveraged buyout fund, and at Fonds Partenaires, the Lazard partners’ principal investment fund. Patrick originally started his career in Lazard’s mergers and acquisitions advisory practice. He has taken executive managerial roles in invested companies in distressed situations. He has been based in Frankfurt, Paris and London. He was educated at EBS University for Business & Law, the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce, and the Graduate School for Business and Management at Pepperdine University. His core competencies lie in the areas of principal investments, corporate finance, real estate, general management and structuring.

Edward Collins

COO

Edward is a well-known investor from his background in the family office world and asset management. He first worked as a fund manager at New Star Asset Management in London. In 2004 the fund he managed with Patrick Evershed won the Lipper Citywire All-Stars Fund Manager of the Year award for the best performing fund in the UK All Companies Sector. He has served as the CIO of Hanson Family Holdings, a major UK family office and represented the family’s interests on the boards of several operating companies around the world and was CIO of Aldbourne Invesment Management. In addition, he was a Co-founder and joint Managing Director of Hanson Asset Management. In 2018 Edward became CEO of Earth Capital, a global sustainable private equity business managing in excess of $1.5 billion. At Earth Capital, he combined being a member of the global investment committee with overseeing the global operations. Edward re-joined Arlington Capital in 2020 which he co-founded in 2017.

Nicholas Britten-Long 

Director

Head of UK Real Estate

Nicholas has been active in UK real estate for over 20 years. He joined Arlington Capital in 2018 from Kenswick Capital which his family established after they sold their interest in listed property company, Wichford Plc. Kenswick sourced and managed assets let to the UK Government on behalf of a private family office & HNW individuals. Nick was responsible for sourcing property in the UK & EU. Prior to 2010 Nick worked for Investream Limited, a London based Private Property company, charged with the sourcing and acquisition of assets in the UK and Europe. He was also at Brown Cooper Marples responsible for sourcing UK real estate. His core competencies lie in the areas of principal real estate investments, commercial finance, asset management and portfolio structuring.

Andrea Tenconi

Director

Andrea is a  finance professional with over 25 years of investment experience across all parts of the capital structure in both public  and  private  markets.  Andrea joined the founding team of Arlington Capital in 2017 from Hanson Asset  Management. He has  directly managed tradable investment positions across debt and equity, direct private equity investments, as well as special situation investments, with a track record of consistent investment performance.  His professional background includes being Managing Director at Strategic Value Partners and work with JP Morgan as an Investment Officer of Morgan Capital (PE) and as a Proprietary Trader of the Securities Division.  He has his degree  in Management Science  from  the London School of Economics and is fluent in Italian, French, Spanish and English. His core competence is in the area of principal investments.

Michael Turnbull

Director Designate

Michael has 35 years’ international banking experience. 25 years with Morgan Stanley and BAML as head of European Capital Markets, creating capital funding solutions for clients and an excellent senior network within European Financial institutions, major corporates and institutional investors.  His skills in negotiating and structuring innovative transactions delivered deals for corporates including Tesco, Shell, BP, DT, ENEL, KPN, British Land, Vodafone, Arqiva and institutions such as Prudential, Zurich, Barclays, AXA, RBS, San Paolo, as well as for the UK treasury and Bank of England. Joining Stormhabour as a partner in 2014 to lead origination, he led deals Barclays and Heathrow, later joining Anoa Capital where deals included a $1.5bn deal for Etihad Airways and capital raises in the film, e-gaming and digital advertising sectors including AP/AR procurement.  Recent raises include Tradeshift, Gardenia and Data Interconnect.  He has an MA in History from Oxford University.

Maximillian zu Ysenburg 

Director

Head of European Real Estate

Maximillian has 20 years of European real estate industry experience. He joined Arlington Capital in 2017 from Hanson Asset Management where he has been focussed on residential portfolios that provide a granular, stable income base and that is collateralised by value assets. Between 2011 – 2015 Max was focussed on managing and sourcing European Real Estate. Latterly at Cronus Asset Management where he focussed on German residential and renewable energy strategies. Prior to Cronus Max advised London and Capital Ltd on the dissolution of their German commercial real estate fund that held assets valued at €660 million. From 2011 to 2013, he worked independently in real estate advisory, focused primarily on German commercial and residential real estate. From 2001 to 2011, he was partner/co-owner at Engel & Völkers in Wiesbaden, Germany, a leading real estate brokerage and advisory firm. Max speaks four languages fluently, and has lived and worked in London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Madrid, and Brussels.

Gavin McNicoll

Executive

Gavin has been in family office asset management for 10 years, first with Hanson Asset Management, joining Arlington Capital at founding. He has an extensive network of relationships built up in this time, and through his experience as a business founder and entrepeneur for over 25 years. He founded a think tank which hosted one of the most significant transatlantic annual gatherings of the US and UK intelligence community in the decade post 9/11 with the support of all of the UK government's counter terror agencies. He went on to found one of the first cyber intelligence companies, serving blue chip clients.  Gavin gained his Masters from St Andrews in International Relations and Philosophy, specialising in Terrorism, Intelligence, US Foreign Policy, and the Middle East. Gavin’s specialises  in business development, fundraising and due diligence.

Daniel Hillman

Executive

Daniel is an investor and finance professional with almost a decade of experience investing and advising on direct investments globally with a focus on real assets. Daniel is a Director of Waterfund, a water-focused investment vehicle, with a focus on impact investing.  Prior to building and growing Waterfund, Daniel spent four years at Hanson Asset Management, advising family offices on direct investments and specialty corporate finance mandates with a focus on UK, European and US real estate. Having spent his entire professional career between New York and London, Daniel has a strong transatlantic network of investors and deal sourcing capabilities. Daniel’s core competencies lie in principal investing, business development and sourcing opportunities for Arlington, its clients and partners.
